OASIS – Single, Divorced, Widowed 

The American Heritage Dictionary defines an Oasis as:

1. A fertile or green spot in a desert or wasteland, made so by the presence of water.
2. A situation or place preserved from surrounding unpleasantness; a refuge: an oasis of serenity amid chaos.

The Oasis Ministry is the Ministry of First Baptist Church Colleyville, for single adults age thirty-five and older.  It is a ministry of refreshing, supporting, and caring for single men and women who find themselves facing life’s challenges alone.  

Oasis is faithful, loving brothers and sisters in Christ reaching out to single people; those who have already walked the path and willingly help others. Life at times can be messy…crying with a single parent whose child has died; praying with a sister who has a brain tumor; putting your arm around a brother whose dreams lie in ashes around him after divorce.  Thankfully, God helps us in these times…through His Word and His people. 

Oasis cares about both the spiritual and social needs of singles in our church.  Currently, we provide:

• A mid-week Bible Study time together
• Opportunities to serve others, such as helping at the Jesus Filling Station, Mission Colleyville, Fall Festival, and other church events
• Avenues for socializing with other single adults and their families by going out to eat, movies, sporting events, horseback riding and other fun activities.  Plans are also being made for other activities on a monthly basis.

What's the key to this success? It is that the Oasis members have a commitment to God and to the people of FBCC.  God has blessed this ministry.  We started with eight members and continue to grow.  If you are thirty-five or older and single (never married, divorced, or widowed) come and check out this vital, growing ministry of FBCC.
