At FBCC, we recognize the need for formal membership as discussed in the Bible. Formal membership in a local church is important for three reasons:
1. Biblical reason: In Acts 2:44 we learn that “All the believers were together and had everything in common.” Throughout the New Testaments, church members came together to worship and also to hold each other accountable. There was a clear distinction between those who were a part of the church and those who were not. Membership in a local church is an important step in demonstrating commitment to Christ.
2. Personal reason: Membership enhances spiritual growth. The New Testament places a significant emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other in order to grow spiritually. A person cannot be accountable when they are not committed.
3. Practical reason: Membership helps to establish one's identity with of a local body of believers. It is also a qualification for positions of leadership within the church.
While visiting FBCC, we pray you will consider the benefits and privileges of membership with a community of believers. We would love for you to join us!
